my first photos…

Some of you will know I’ve not been happy with my 18mm-50mm lens that came with my camera, I felt limited with it…I’ve thought about this for a few months as I wasn’t sure what I wanted or even if I needed a new lens.  This one was suggested as a starting point, something I could build from…it is a Nikon AF 50mm f/1.8D, it wasn’t expensive, but I’ve read many positive reviews, it also comes highly recommended by a blogging friend…it is supposed to be a great lens in spite of the cost.   I’ve only taken a few shots with it so I’m not sure what I’m doing with it yet…time will tell!

ducks.moma.babies.2013I was about 10 feet away from this mom and her chicks, she didn’t seem to be afraid of me,but she didn’t want me too close…as I inched closer she kept walking away, with one eye on me at all times…

tree.mushrooms.2013I like the texture on tree trunks, when I saw this one with the mushrooms growing I decided to see how much detail I could pick up…

  3. The 50 is a great lens, and you made the right choice. The f/1.4 only adds the 1.4 aperture, which is almost unusable except for macros.

    • happy to hear another positive regarding the lens…someone else said the same thing about the f/1.4…it is all good!

      • I have the f/1.4. It’s great, but I NEVER use 1.4. The focal length is less than an inch … tip of the nose type distance.

  4. That is a good choice, Heather because waiting for another new better lens release will be too long ! 🙂 Great shots!

    • great idea…this mother wasn’t afraid, although she did keep me from walking right up by slowly moving away if I took a step towards, was enjoyable to watch!
