spider, shads & pansey…

Found this fellow hanging around last week, just like this…it is difficult to tell but if you look very closely you can see his web around his top legs…not sure what/where his web was connected as I couldn’t see it very well…
spider.4..2013These three are shad flies…they don’t bite, the adult shad doesn’t have a mouth and dies a couple of days after they mate and lay eggs… but they are a stinky nuisance, we have to put up with them for two to three weeks in the July…the odd thing is a large number means the lake is healthy!Ā  They are attracted to light so most people near the lake keep their lights off as they flock to the light!shad.2.2013Pansies have always make me think of my childhood…pansy.2013

    • thanks Terence…lol…it actually was rather cool the way it seemed to be hanging in mid air with nothing to support it…

    • it was so strange to see this fellow just hanging…his web is so thin I had a difficult time seeing it, although I knew it was there…fancy that, both taking the same shot…great minds think alike!!! šŸ™‚ I look forward to seeing yours Cindy…I can’t get as great macros as you can!

  4. Great captures. I wouldn’t like those shad flies in my house, either. šŸ™‚ The spider pic is amazing and the pansies are lovely.
