Hibiscus…
I think…if this is not a Hibiscus please let me know? A knowledgeable fellow explained this is a specie of Bauhinia, common called an “orchid tree.” Thank you Russel at russelrayphotos2.com

Gorgeous flower, however; the hibiscus I have seen have a different looking center than this one. If I knew all the flower parts, I could probably explain it better.

It is nice to visit with old friends! I’ve been taking photos, but of farm fresh food and market vendors for the past year…:) will see what I can come up with now as I won’t be doing that any longer.

Sounds like a bit of a story behind that 🙂

yes there is…I have been the Market Manager for our two local Farmers’ Markets for the past three years…the first year there was only one Market the next year a second Market was added and I was so busy taking photos of the Market that my personal photos took a back seat. Just wasn’t time to take personal photos and post them as I was constantly taking photos of the Markets to promote them! I love the Markets, and I will miss it terribly but decided to stepped down this fall. I will be able to do more of my own photos. Life changes…

I suppose…they say everything happens for a reason! Figuring out the reason often takes time… 😉

yes, Hibiscus. I’ve seen so many beautiful blooms this year!
Hope you are well, Heather. Today is the first day I’ve visited blogs in way too long!

thanks LB…while I love flowers I’m not always familiar with the names. I’m good, hope you are as well? I understand, I’ve not done a great deal of visiting this winter, life is so busy…but nice to hear from you just the same!

No, it’s not a hibiscus. It’s a specie of Bauhinia, common called an “orchid tree.” There are billions of them, though, not to mention all of the hybrids that the plant geneticists have given us, so without pictures of the tree, leaves, and buds, I can’t tell you exactly which Bauhinia it is, only that it definitely is a Bauhinia. I’m thinking Bauhinia variegata, though.

thank you Russel for the name of the flower…I don’t know a great deal about flowers other than I love them! I appreciate you taking the time with the information! Sorry to take so long to respond, I’ve been away from the site since April…hoping to get back into it again.

So great to see you again, Heather. I’m glad that Russel could identify this beautiful flower. I only knew that it wasn’t a Hibiscus. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving.
