Hi heather, I think they could be blurry because they are out of focus. From their size and position I believe they are a foreground object at a similar distance to the leaves the are also on the right hand side in the bottom corner. It seems that they just dropped out of your depth of field.
How to fix this in the future a larger aperture to create a deeper Depth of Field and focus on the centre of what is the subject.

Hey Ben…thank you for an easy to understand explanation! It is greatly appreciated.

The three daisies are out of focus because they are to close for this focus setting.

It looks like a Depth of Field thing, this will explain it so much better than I can 🙂

Yes…it is very well explained…thank you for the link! I’ll figure it all out eventually… 🙂

Smaller aperture makes for longer exposure but deeper depth of field. So F10 would have probably got the whole lot in but you would need a tripod 🙂

Well…I have a tripod, have had it for years, as I took shots of my jewelry, but never liked using it… when I take most of my photos now they are spontaneous and I don’t cart my tripod around…I guess I’ll work around this as best I can for now. Thanks again for the info, every bit helps! 🙂

Hi Heather,
To me it looks like a may be motion blur more than a depth DoF issue. Was there a slight breeze when you captured this image? The reason I say this is those blurred daisies look as if they may be slightly taller than the others.

thank you Steve for taking the time to offer your thoughts…you know now that you ask the question, yes there was a breeze when taking a few shots of these daisies, and I do remember thinking I wish it would stop till I’m finished! :)…of course I never gave the breeze a second thought when processing the photo but it struck me as unusual just those few daisies are a bit blurry, which is why I asked the question in the first place… 🙂 thanks Steve for making me think!
