Last week, Wed. April 27th, I stopped at the waterfront to take a few photos of the ice…it has finally begun to move. If you look closely you can see the ice is beginning to crystallize as well. A bit slow this year but then this winter has been unusual to say the least…

it actually is rather interesting to watch happen if it is windy…you can hear the ice moving…it is beginning to warm up to “normal” temps this week, so looking forward to it the ice melting, which will help to warm it up as well…

in the spring, the ice always moves around, one day it can be like the photo shows, often more so…or it can be open water for as far as the eye can see…it is dependent on the direction and strength of the winds.

it happens rather quickly and there is never any set date…it is something a person may or may not see depending on the weather, winds and location. Not something that can be planned…
