Hoar frost…
for a definition of hoar frost click here…http://www.britannica.com/science/hoarfrost
more green with a splash of white…
Someone questioned me about the lack of snow…we have lots, but I’ve not been able to venture out to take photos , so for now I will post photos I’ve taken in the past few years. Some I’ve posted before, some I haven’t…
serenity…
This photo was taken a couple of years ago, while on our Friday early morning drive to the Rosseau Market. I was not driving, hence the photo! It is a tad blurry but I like the photo non the less!
A belated Merry Christmas to those who celebrate…this photo was taken Christmas night from my daughters balcony. It was taken with my iPhone as I forgot my camera!
a blustery day
cold wind biting deep
taking the longing to sit!
Silhouettes and clouds…
Chief Commanda I
I’ve posted photos of the Chief Commanda previously…it was launched in 1946, and served Lake Nipissing until 1975 when it was replaced by Cheif Commanda II. Chief I is now a restaurant on the waterfront.
sunset & silhouettes…
This is the sunset I posted last week, taken as I approached the beach…I like the silhouette of the trees on either side.
crazy clouds
If you visit my blog at all you will know I’m fascinated by clouds…this photo was taken Oct. 10th., last day of the Market. It was difficult to make the photo presentable as the sun was very bright. I cropped most of it out as I wanted the cloud formation to be the focal…
This is has been the subject of most of my photo for the past three years…every Saturday and Wednesday. Along with photos of the vendors and booths. The North Bay Farmers’ Market.
Fresh picked and on the table for 8:30am on Saturday…
This was in September, so a bit cool first thing…Field Good Farms
Who doesn’t love garlic, how about fresh garlic, the best!
I love the tables first thing in the morning, full of farm fresh veggies …the colors are so vibrant!
Saw this fellow and his companion last year…you could tell they were used to people being around as they didn’t appear to be the least bit concerned.
Reminiscing…
I looked through my photo files and the 2015 photos are almost non existent unless you want to see farm fresh veggies and Market photos…so for now I’m going to go through some of my older photos and showcase them. I’m actually surprised the number of b & w photos I have. This photo was taken while on the highway from the vehicle…NO, I wasn’t driving!
Strange cloud formation…
This photo was taken before the one below, as I was walking up to the beach area I noticed a strange cloud formation that caught my eye!
Hope to see you again…
I’ve been absent for awhile now, life happens…I hope to be around now!
I’m trying out a new theme, but not sure it is what I want as I can’t seem to make the photos larger to fill more of the page? Will be playing around for the next little while so if you come by and see something unusual it is because I’m playing.
When I went out a couple of weeks ago it was just as the sun had set and the sky was awash with the most vibrant colors, I’d gotten out of the habit of keeping my camera in my vehicle but my trusty iPhone did the trick I think…
Hibiscus…
I think…if this is not a Hibiscus please let me know? A knowledgeable fellow explained this is a specie of Bauhinia, common called an “orchid tree.” Thank you Russel at russelrayphotos2.com
these photos where taken off the beach at Fort Zachery Taylor Historical Park…boat traffic was somewhat heavy that day! It is an awesome view…

tranquility…
I was looking through the hundreds of photos I took while away and realized 95% of them are of my granddaughter! The other 4% are of family with her and 1% is of sites while away! I didn’t realize I did this…was always taking a photo so thought there would be many to post but it turns out there isn’t…
Here is a simplistic one, but one that speaks to my heart!!! While I don’t/can’t sail, I love the water…
more sunsets…
It is interesting how I’ve not seen the sunset for months and recently I’ve been able to capture it three times..awesome! This one wasn’t as intense as some, but then it was just setting, I find the colors more vibrant a short while after the setting…didn’t stay around to see what happened that night as I wasn’t dressed warm enough!
This photo was taken a few weeks ago right after a warmers spell…you can see the ridges of ice that built up due to the winds and then colder temperatures…makes for dangerous snowmobiling and walking…
sunset anyone…
Took this photo with my iPhone 6 last night…began using the phone Friday evening so don’t know what I think about it yet…made sure I found a solid clip on case as I have a tendency to drop my phone. One shattered screen is enough! As you can see we have snow again…it is cold today so it just might stay for a while this time!
“freezing fog”…
Photo was taken from my back deck(gray-scale)…it is somewhat foggy outside…which is creating “freezing fog”…http://www.theweatherprediction.com/habyhints/359/ As you can see, the needles on this tree are weighted down…
and so it begins…
On Tuesday evening I went with my son Michael, daughter-in-law Melissa and grand-baby Paige to see the Christmas Train. The Ontario Northland Railway decorates a short train, the engine, two cars and a caboose…children can have a few minutes with Santa, as well as a big white bear. It is even possible for the children to get on board a couple of the cars, one is set up as Santa’s Workshop and the other is the engine. Paige is not quite ten months old yet so we didn’t venture on to the train, nor did we visit with Santa as she is not sure if she likes him just yet! The Fire Department had a truck on hand as well for the children to climb on…kids love the Fire Trucks! Two local businesses, Cecil’s Eatery and Tim Horton’s provided free hot chocolate for all. It was a fun event for children and parents alike! This train stops at a number of communities in the area for about an hour and a half. I was surprised how amazingly crowded it was as the wind was bitterly cold.
Below you see the busy side of the train…couldn’t get too close! I’ve not done much in the way of photographs at night so this was very different for me. Will have to do more…
This was the opposite side of the train, it was decorated just the same but much easier to really see the train…I have to admit though my hands were frozen so I didn’t take many photos…
A different angle of the “other side” of the train…still can’t see the caboose…there is a chain link fence on this side, which doesn’t allow me to get back far enough to see it all…
This is a full view of the train as we were leaving…the train station is elevated and there is a chain link fence in front of the train…couldn’t get close to take a better shot.
strange season…
The majority of snow is gone…for now… but we are left with ice build up along the shore line…this has been such a strange fall weather wise. I know we aren’t the only place to experience such unusual weather patterns, just stating a fact. This was taken around 4:30pm yesterday…it was foggy over the water but not so much over the land, made for interesting photos.
This ice build did not melt and will make for difficult walking and snowmobiling once we get more snow, but is something that is beyond our control and happens often as the winds are strong off the lake…
